All You Need to Know About IOSH Courses

Work is a necessary part of many people’s lives. It’s what defines them in many ways. But to work properly, you need to know how to work safely. Working safely is a huge responsibility that you need to be educated about before you go about it. IOSH courses are something that can help you gain more knowledge about working safely as well as your workplace responsibilities in respect to your position.

There are three kinds of IOSH courses. Let’s take a look at them and how they matter:

IOSH Working Safely

The IOSH Working Safely course is available to any person no matter what their position in their respective workplace. It’s a one day course that lets working people know just why they must work safely. To do so, the course educates the participants on why health and safety are important in the workplace, and how they must come into practice rather than staying as legislation.

The course is followed by an assessment which consists of the candidates taking part in completing 3 hazard spotting exercises and answering a short multiple choice question paper. The IOSH Working Safely course is a direct match to the Health and Safety Executive’s ‘Passport’ syllabus. Moreover, it also happens to be equivalent to a Level 1 Award in Health and Safety for construction environments.

IOSH Managing Safely

This particular course takes the importance of health and safety and makes sure that managers appreciate it. It’s designed for managers of any kind of company and the aim of this course is to ensure that managers learn how to manage health and safety in their workplaces along with their managerial duties.

The specifics of this course are providing managers, supervisors, representatives of employee safety and small business owners in any sector with the knowledge of health and safety regulations that exist in the UK. This includes giving them a broad understanding of the current safety principles along with health requirements. The assessment of this course consists of an evaluation involving a written assessment paper consisting of 20 multi-format questions and a practical assessment.

IOSH Directing Safely

The IOSH Directing Safely course is a one day exercise that is aimed at senior level management of all kinds of industries and companies around the UK. The aim of this course is acquainting the senior level management with their responsibilities for safety in the workplace and how important it is for them to be accountable for it.

By the end, this course should be able to help senior managers recognise the need for reviewing existing health and safety policies and making amendments in the legislation where needed. The knowledge they gain during this course will acquaint them with the safety and health regulations in the UK and will give them a basic understanding of why they need to appreciate those laws in their areas of responsibility. The IOSH Directing Safely course takes an assessment at the end where candidates complete a practical assessment and a short multiple choice question paper.
